HM to LPN

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hi,

I'm very new to this site and have a lot of questions.

I got out the Navy in September 2014, and have been going to school for my AA general transfer degree here in Florida. I'm missing two math classes this summer and need to take them in order to complete my degree.

I wanted to do the BSN track straight away, but I work full-time and my gpa isn't the best, so I'm moving towards the LPN road instead. I'm prepping myself for the upcoming application this Fall.

Has anyone else had experience with this?

Any tips I can use? I want my BSN, but the LPN path is going to have to be it for now. I have the Post 911 GI Bill as well if that helps.

While I haven't been down that path myself, when you do decide to go for BSN, be sure that your LVN/LPN license won't cause you issues... by that I mean make sure that you'll graduate with exactly the same BSN as your traditional counterparts if you do some kind of LVN -> BSN transition course.

If you do a full traditional BSN course, that's all moot, but I wish you the best going forward in any path you follow!

As an HM, couldn't you challenge the LPN boards in California? I may be wrong but I read that it was possible. It may save you some time and money to put towards the BSN.

Have you looked into getting the ADN/ASN RN and then move up to the BSN? I know a lot of nurses who have done it this way where I live.

Sorry for the extremely late reply, but I found out I could challenge the board by endorsement here in Florida.

So you will challenge the LPN boards, Meiba2K16?
