For the life of me I can't figure out the question that was on my A&P lab homework last week - still stumped.
Here is is: "How does the function of stratified epithelia differ from the function of simple epithelia?"
My lab manual only says the general functions of epithelium, and the difference between the two is the number of layers.
Any ideas?

Well - simple (squamous) epithelia is more for filtration whereas stratified (squamous) epithelia is more for protection.
There may be more to the answer, but that's what I can think of right now.
anyone else?

the simple epithelia isn't going to be very thick so it would be easy for diffusion to occur.
the squamous epithelia is going to obviously be thicker because it has more layers of cells. it is used for protection.
basically re-stated what the op just said.
hopefully you understand it better or have found your answer at least :)
