Hired Through a Management Company

Published

Hi! I hope this is the appropriate place to put this. I'm not exactly sure what it should go under.

I'm a new grad and have my first interview tomorrow for a part time position in a doctor's office. :) I'm a little anxious about it though because I applied online through craigslist. I have pretty much determined that it's real. (I don't have to pay anything, they aren't requesting my SSN, or anything like that.)

But, it looks like the person I'm interviewing with isn't from the office. It appears to be an established (10 years, or so says the webpage) management company.

So, I guess my question is, is that a good/legit way to get a job? Should I be worried that I'm working with the office to get the job? (I mean, they obviously hired the management company, right?) Is it common for PCP offices to work that way? I admit, I'm completely naive about this, so if it's normal, I'd like to know.

Thanks in advance for any advice or insight! :D

Many physician offices use an outside contractor to manage parts of their practice operations. Physician Practice Management companies have been around for a long time. Physicians don't like to have to deal with issues like payroll, managing benefits and such. It also helps when office staff want to take a vacation or need coverage for sick days - much easier whent the 'mother company' can provide a qualified replacement to keep a small operation functioning smoothly.

Great! That's exactly what I wanted to hear. Thanks for your input! :)
