Hired! A little inspiration for my fellow nurses.

Nurses LPN/LVN

Just yesterday I commented on someone's post about how I was beginning to feel a little dejected in my job search but I wasn't giving up. I prayed last night before bed, and when I woke up this morning, I got called for an interview! I had my interview at 12 and by 12:30 I was offered a job!!! It pays $24 an hour, and I'll be working full time afternoon shift!

I just want to let everyone that is still in the hunt know, do not give up! I know how stressful it can be. To be on your last leg, desperate for that phone call, for that interview, to get your foot in the door so that all of your troubles will start to go away. I know how it feels. But your blessing will come to you. I am a firm believer in God. I know everyone doesn't share the same beliefs and I am not forcing mine on anyone. But just know, everything is in divine order. What is meant for you, will definitely be yours. You might get a lot of 'No's' but your 'Yes' is on the way. I put in at least 40 applications over the past 4 weeks. I just knew someone would call. But day after day would pass, yet no calls. On Monday I called a particular facility and the receptionist informed me they were not hiring. But something pushed me to go in and fill out the application anyway. I filled out the mundane application (trust me, you fill out one app, you've filled out them all), left my resume and cover letter, and smiled graciously when I was told, 'We'll keep your application on file and if a need comes, we'll give you a call!'

Of Course you will, I thought to myself. So I continued in my search until Wednesday, and I decided to give myself a break. I prayed, a lot, and told God I was feeling low, but I'll keep working and be patient because I know He has something in store for me. And boy did He! 8:23 this morning I got the phone call that changed my life! And you know what, it will happen for you too. Just keep pushing. Fill out every application for every job that you are qualified for, even some that you think you may be! You'll be surprised at what comes your way! I am praying for all of you!

congrats!!! that's fantastic. i'm still waiting for that call to come through. i apply to everything i can online and in person (short of being thrown out...kidding) and i do pray every night. may be it's not loud enough? lol!! but i can tell you i've been told by several facilities they don't allow resumes or walk-ins with filling out applications and was asked to fill one out on online. Harsh! very frustrating but stories like yours keep me optimistic. good luck!

Thank you! And trust me, you are doing the right thing but continuing to push! I always notice, it's the pushy ones that get the results! Have you made any follow up phone calls? Sometimes, when you make yourself known to people, they tend to remember you once they start pulling applications.

yep, i've done it all. i did the follow up call thing w/quite a few following the suggestion of some sites and never got a call back. on one call it left a message and never heard back, the call the back the following wk and the don sounded very annoyed saying she was very busy and said she'd call back and let me know...that was three wks ago. i know how persistence is key in landing a job. i was one of the few in my MA class to secure an internship and land a job because i followed up on everything but this has proven to be more of a challenge. but i don't give up that easily...hehehe. in fact i did get one phone call for an interview but i'm on the fence about it. gonna post the details. ;)

Awesome!

Thank you so much for the post! I have been looking and looking..filling out out those mundane applications and getting pretty frustrated! Your post has given me hope!!

Good luck on your new job :)
