Would it be a violation of HIPPA for a healthcare employee to look up information on a former patient for personal use? If so, how could it be proven?TIA
a family member is the former employee and suspicious, that's all.
a nurse at my place of employment looked into a family member's chart. the it dept. proved access, entry & time of retrieval. said nurse was then given the option of resigning immediately or being fired and having to explain a hippa violation to her next employer. she chose resignation.
