In terms of HIPAA: Can a nurse who was the primary care nurse for a patient that expired check their charting afterwards ?  During code events, it’s very stressful and I’m wondering if checking the EmR after is allowed to make sure you charted Everything correctly.  For example It’s difficult to write a verbal order when the patient is coding in front of you and you are taking care of  the patient.  You can’t do two things at once.

Yes. HIPAA doesn't prevent appropriate documentation or reviewing to make sure nothing was forgotten or any of that.
