Hello all,
I thought I would start a thread for those of us applying to HCC's Spring 2013 nursing program. I am a Veterinary Technician/stay at home mom. I'm gathering everything for my application and hoping to drop it off at HCC soon. The deadline isn't until 6/1 but they recommend turning it in at least 30 days in advance. I'm a current HCC student. I was planning on applying for Fall this year, but am now expecting a little girl to arrive in July so spring it is! My pre-req GPA is 3.86 (all A's and 1 B), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program for DM evening classes. Good luck to all!

Yes, I registered for CPR online. CPR for HCC Allied Health Students | TampaTraining.com The next classes offered are Nov. 5th, and Dec. 3rd. I hope you join me! It will be fun to go through it with another classmate. It's a great price and we know it will be accepted.
Are there any other places that you guys of heard of that we can take the CPR class. I am hoping that I could find one on a Saturday. Tough juggling 4 kids and this.
The CPR card we need to end up with with Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professionals (BLS) from the American Heart Association. My wife and I did this course directly through the AHA. This way is typically a little more expensive, but is much more convenient. You take the classroom portion online at onlineaha.org, then you go do a quick skills check (30mins) through a licensed instructor. You end up with the same BLS card that is given to people who attend live classes in person. It cost me $22 for the course, then $20 for the skills check.

that might be a alternative. I did find In Pulse CPR has a Saturday class 10/6 from 9-1 for $50 in tampa. It's double HCC but I have to balance my husbands work schedule and the kids I want to get it over with so one less thing to worry about.
Hey, all
My 38$ check is cashed, but 50$ one- not yet. Looked at scrubs and stethoscopes, Littman lightweight looks very cheap, despite of good reviews, I couldn't hear anything with it. Looks like a toy. Trying to review HESI test, big bore.... Anybody studying anything? Calculations maybe? Does anyone know how much titers cost? I wonder what is the reason they didn,t send us forms for physical and vaccinations?

I was told that we will get the information at the orientation. I posted a couple of days ago what the prices were for the health dept. I am going to go the route with a new primary dr. and they do they vaccinations in the office and blood draws. I am hoping insurance pays for it all!
Once I can get the physical, vaccinations and CPR out of the way, I will be starting to review the calculations. Math was never my strong suit and hoping a month or so of review will get me a head for our first test.
My $38 check was just cashed. At least I know they got the forms now. I'm hoping that my experience in veterinary medicine (mostly critical care/OR) will help me with things like calculations, meds, etc. There are a lot of parallels between human and animal medicine. So I will be concentrating mostly on AP. I had a great instructor and kept all my powerpoints. I will start reviewing those again in November. As far as the HESI what is included in it?Hey, allMy 38$ check is cashed, but 50$ one- not yet. My husband comes back Saturday from a business trip and this looks like the only one I will be able to do. Have you already registered? I am thinking I might just take this class to.
