Hello! I was wondering if anyone else is planning on applying to the HCC nursing program for the spring of 2018? I just finished this rough semester and I was hoping there would be other people on here that I can talk to about this upcoming goal! (:
This morning, I read the entire thread on fall 2017 applicants, and it cleared up a lot of questions I had. Here are some things I learned: Last year (spring 2017), people got their acceptance letters in the first week of October. In the fall, they found out almost exactly 1 month after the deadline, and there were about 500 applicants for 150 (I think) spots. The GPA cutoff was slightly above 3.6, but I think some people with 3.5s were accepted after being put on the alternate list.
Pretty much everyone had the "under review/not received" status on their prereqs until after the application deadline.
There are HCC nursing Facebook groups for each cohort. So, I bet someone will make one for Spring 18 at some point. And, towards the end of that thread, there is some valuable info about orientation and what to expect in the program.
So they look at your pre-req GPA first and then your overall is used as a tie-breaker correct? Also, what classes are included in the pre-req GPA?
correct. the pre read are
anatomy and phys 1
anatomy and phys 1 lab
anatomy and phys 2
anatomy and phys 2 lab
Microbiology
microbiology lab
sociology
english composition 1
college algebra
and they use just A,B,C etc. no +/-

She liked it.. It was tough (of course ) but she seemed to like most of her instructors. She was at the Wesley Chapel campus.
