Hillsborough Community College Nursing - Spring 2018

Published

Hello! I was wondering if anyone else is planning on applying to the HCC nursing program for the spring of 2018? I just finished this rough semester and I was hoping there would be other people on here that I can talk to about this upcoming goal! (:

Thanks for the reply! How did your wife like the nursing program at PHSC? Which campus was she?

She liked it.. It was tough (of course ) but she seemed to like most of her instructors. She was at the Wesley Chapel campus.

Did you send in your College Transcripts? and if you did, do you know the date?

Well I took the pre-reqs in HCC and I'm applying to the HCC nursing program. So..

Yes, it showed under my documents. Sorry for my late reply, I was not getting any email notificaitons

I have a GPA of a 3.6 for my prerequisites and I scored a 71 on the teas test. Hopefully that will be enough. I applied for Dale Mabry's mornings and evenings, but also for plant. I hope I get into Dale if I do get accepted.

This morning, I read the entire thread on fall 2017 applicants, and it cleared up a lot of questions I had. Here are some things I learned: Last year (spring 2017), people got their acceptance letters in the first week of October. In the fall, they found out almost exactly 1 month after the deadline, and there were about 500 applicants for 150 (I think) spots. The GPA cutoff was slightly above 3.6, but I think some people with 3.5s were accepted after being put on the alternate list.

Pretty much everyone had the "under review/not received" status on their prereqs until after the application deadline.

There are HCC nursing Facebook groups for each cohort. So, I bet someone will make one for Spring 18 at some point. And, towards the end of that thread, there is some valuable info about orientation and what to expect in the program.

Update:

My prereqs now show as "received" under My Documents. Might want to check yours out too. I applied mid June.

mine are still "under review" when did you send everything in again?

I think it was 6/12.

So they look at your pre-req GPA first and then your overall is used as a tie-breaker correct? Also, what classes are included in the pre-req GPA?

maybe they just had to catch up with all the applications and that's why it took the people who sent in applications early so long to get updated?

but i'm glad you're all updated!
