Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I am a freshman taking bio one now and I have a C. I know I'm not gonna finish bio with a 90 to get into AP bio for junior year and to be honest, I don't think I can handle A.P. classes. I only wanna do A.P Anatomy but I'm afraid colleges won't accept me if all I have is anatomy. I watched a lot of youtube videos and they make it seem like you need to take tons of A.P. classes if you wanna be a nurse and I can't do that. I know if I work hard in prereqs and nursing school I can do it, but I am discouraged.

The best person to talk to would be your academic counselor. They can find out the requirements for the schools you are interested in applying. I seriously doubt a lack of AP bio is going to hamper you in any way.

Most nursing schools require graduation from high school and may require high school chemistry and algebra, or will advise the sciences, algebra. AP classes in high school is not the issue. The actual prerequisites that you take for nursing school are done in the first year or two of college, then you apply to the nursing program. Very, very few nursing schools still admit students straight from high school. However, you have identified that the life science classes are not your strong suit. You will need to address any deficiencies now and find out what you can do to get the highest grades possible and actually learn the material, or you may not find success in nursing school possible.
