Highest Paying Hospitals NYC

Hi All! Just wanted to start a post on salaries in NYC for those who are job searching or considering a switch. I just switched from a medical center outside the city to NYU Langone. I went from making a base of 66,500 to 89,500. There is also an OR incentive right now of 12,500 at NYU. So a new grad in the OR would be making 100,000.

Any other info on salaries out there? Please share if you can. Thanks!

You're welcome! I was pleasantly surprised with the compensation. I interviewed at NYP Cornell at the same time and the pay was going to be almost exactly the same... it was literally within a few pennies of each other.

How about HCC hospitals? How are the pay there?

I find this post very informative. I found that without experience even with a BSN it was almost impossible to find placement in the top NYC hospitals & I didn't know anyone who worked in those hospitals who could vouch for me, lol. So I'm currently, begrudgingly, in NY but in the upstate/western side, closer to Toronto, getting my experience & plan on moving back to NYC since my fiance is already living there. Any new updates on top NYC hospital salaries or what's helpful to know in getting placement in these hospitals?

Hey!

Any updated base salaries?

Any updates anything on memorial sloan new grad salaries?

I work at NYP / Columbia as of 1/1/18 starting base salary for CN-1 is $93,028 DAYS only, NOT including bachelors, night shift and years of exp. differential . very good money

Nice! & thank you for the info. Is that base pay with how much experience? Also did you apply online or via a recommendation who works there? Just wondering what the application, interview & hiring process is like. If you may shed some light on that. I'm in the western part of NY but wish to apply to NYP once I hit my 2yr mark of experience.

there was an opening for a per diem position at my friend's unit she pushed for me to get in. But when I went to orientation ALOT i mean ALOT started as travel nurses and ended up taking a full time position when one opened. As a matter of fact I know a few nurses did this to get their feet in the door. American Mobile is the only agency that works with NYP for what they told me. It's very hard to get in !!! but don't lose hope keep applying even if is a "not in a very desirable unit" . You want to get your foot in the door.

Thank you for the detailed info, including pay differential with experience. & I agree it's one of the hardest hospital to get into especially if just applying online. In fact, prior to relocating, I did apply to NYP online (areas of interest) in vain, just crickets, lol. But I also didn't have experience at the time. Now that I've ganered some experience & feel confident. I'll keep pushing because it's truly the hospital I desire to work at. I'll look into that agency as well. So hopefully it eventually works out. Thanks again chowchow1 & all the best on your endevour at NYP ?

That was very informative. Thank you! Is the union NYSNA or a private NYP union? Also, do you work 12 shifts a month only or is there one shift a month extra that you have to work to make up for any missing hours? Do you work alternating weekends? How is the scheduling like? Do you schedule yourself or whatever management schedules you for? Thanks!

It is NYSNA . For 12 hour shifts, one week you have to work 4 days . Per union contract you must work 150 hours per month. We put in requests for schedule, and manager will try to accommodate as possible. We rotate every 3rd weekend. But some people only wants to work weekends so it takes the load from the rest of us

What is the interview and hiring process like? In terms of typical time frame it takes to apply and be hired... do they use a panel interview or just the manager? Is there a unit shadow prior to interview or not? What kind of questions do they ask and what kind of candidates do they seek? Lol, a lot but whatever you can shed light on.
