This is mainly just out of curiosity, because I have no intention of moving anytime soon and am certainly not trying to get into nursing just to bow to the almighty dollar, but I was wondering if anyone knows: what area/state pays the most, all things considered (mainly, factoring in cost of living)? I know CA pays well, but I also heard it generally costs over a grand a month for a small 1 bedroom apartment in most places there.
Thanks everyone, in advance, for the information!

There was some report, I forget where, that listed Dallas, Houston, then Sacramento, CA as the top 3 places where nurses make the most money relative to cost of living. Does anyone remember this article?

Washington State pays well also. Anywhere on the west coast pays better. :)
It all depends though...I live in WA state and make a great salary compared to the cost of living where I live in south-east WA state. However, if I were living in Seattle, my salary would be about the same but the cost of living would be easily doubled.
