Would any practicing CRNAs or SRNAs be willing to offer mentorship or advice to an aspiring student like myself? I would be incredibly grateful for the opportunity to shadow, ask questions, and gain any insights you could provide based on your own experiences. Additionally, if anyone knows of other mentorship programs or opportunities for high school students interested in nurse anesthesia, please share that information as well. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to the possibility of connecting with some of you and learning more about this rewarding profession.

I hope you get a bite here 🙂Good for you for taking the initiative.

Here are some additional steps you can take to find mentorship and opportunities in nurse anesthesia:

  • Contact local hospitals and clinics. Reach out to hospitals and clinics in your area, especially those with anesthesia departments. Ask if any CRNAs or SRNAs might be willing to offer mentorship or shadowing opportunities.
  • Professional organizations: Organizations like the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) often have resources for students, including mentorship programs and networking opportunities.
  • Nursing schools and universities. Contact nursing schools and universities with nurse anesthesia programs. They might have programs or connections to help you find a mentor or shadowing opportunity.
  • Try online forums and social media, such as LinkedIn and Reddit, to connect with professionals in the field. You can also join groups related to nurse anesthesia and post your request there.
  • Volunteering. Consider volunteering at healthcare facilities. While this might not be directly related to anesthesia, it can help you make connections in the healthcare field and learn more about different roles within it.
  • School counselors and career centers. High school counselors and career centers often have connections and resources to help you find mentorship and shadowing opportunities in your area of interest.

You can also post in the CRNA forum here on allnurses.

Feel free to ask if you have any other questions about becoming a CRNA :).

Best wishes,

Nurse Beth
