Have you tried interventions such as wheelchair alarms and bed alarms that alert staff when the resident is attempting to stand up? I also assume no money is in the facility's budget for a private sitter, correct?

All studies show that alarms do NOT prevent falls. Find out why he's getting up: wet? hungry? bored? sore bum? There is usually some reason behind the behaviors. Enlist the help of the activities department.

Even though they don't stop falls alarms for everywhere. When you hear the alarm you can run and get sooner. If you can't get a sitter make sure the patient is close to the nurses stuff possible. If you are worried about him falling as soon as he stands - like he can't stand on his own and walk then padding around the bed helps. He may fall but injury is lessened. If he can walk try to avoid this though.
