Hi, newbee here, can use suggestions

hello, i am new to this site, a 42 yr old guy, and just graduated a few weeks ago.

i am already employed as of 2 weeks ago, but that is a bummer....there were 2 positions at different facilities i wanted and i took the one i am at now cause i really needed to get back to work after taking a year off for the school. just my luck, the other 2 places called me within days after accepting the psotion i took, but i like it so far. working at a busy community health center with adults and peds, and feel i really learned alot and got into "work mode" very quickly....though i really wanted a position in a peds LTC, but they got back to me a few days too late:o .

anyway, i am awaiting my ATT and would like any suggestions for studying or what i can expect for the NCLEX-PN. i have the saunders book, and the incredibly easy book.

has anyone taken it recently? even though i am a grown-up man and have a family, i did this career change and i am feeling worried about passing.

i am open to any advice,

I have just recently taken the NCLEX 19 days ago and waiting oh so impatiently for my results. I can offer some advice. I am not a big fan of Saunders myself, as I read threw the book twice and did all 3,000 questions on the cd TWICE, only to see NONE, or very little of that information on the NCLEX exam. The incredibly easy book was better as it adressed priority questions in the front of the book. I also recommend the kaplan review book. Know your lab values (even though I only got one question on them)

*Know a,b,c's and maslow when dealing with patients needs.

*If the question ASKS what YOU should do, remember the nursing processes. Never do an action before collecting data on the pateint / problem.

Hit the questions hard and you shouldnt have any problems. Go get as many books as you can afford and study your a$$ off. I did about 8000 questions from 5 different books and cd's and was satisfied when I was getting about 75% right from the books. When I took the test the answers literally jumped off the screen and I was done at 85 questions and NEW that I had passed when I walked out. 3 days later I had my license. You will do fine. Dont read anything into the questions and just go with what you know....good luck
