Any words of wisdom on the new HHABN forms? Our new policy is "when in doubt...fill it out!" Any other srategies out there?

That is our motto to, we must work for the same company. My office is completely confused on it. The teleconference didnt help us understand at all. They need to make a chart or something of different situations to show which form needs to be used. This is going to be a major headache if it isnt made easier to understand. Sorry, I am no help.

We listened to this sites free directions : http://www.chcforum.org/hcin/

It is still confusing....:nurse:

i have VERY CLEAR indications for use from my QI Director.....after she and VP Patient Services discussed regs for hours after conference.

I missed last minute manadatory meeting last week regarding this. Next day I had the forms in my mailbox. Now they are gone and they said to just forget the whole thing for now. Needless to say I am really confused.

Thanks Karen...waiting to read clear indications....

Hi all--i have a question about the HHABN that i have not come across before

here's the senerio---a few weeks left in cert , pt goes into hospital, comes out we do ROC, order 2w2 and plan to recert this patient, for one time a week, do we need to have pt sign a HHABN as my agency says it is a decrease in frequency, but i am not so sure about that.

i think they make things up!!!!! so i thought i would put it out to my experts!!! thanks in advance

yes you do need to issue a HHABN when decreasing a Medicare patient between cert period. These rules came out in August of 2006. http://www.cms.hhs.gov/BNI/Downloads/HHABN%20Instructions%20effective%209_1_2006.pdf
