hfcc waitlist..need advice

i have been attending hfcc for 2 yrs now i have completed all my pre req for the nursing program except 1. i really need to get my education going my passion is nursing but the waitlist is making me think twice at hfcc and thats the only school i want to attend. a councler told me i can get on the wait list dec of this year, but she wouldnt tell me when i would get called. i had a baby 6 months ago and i want to wait untill i finish school to have another but dont want to wait 5 years... i was looking into surgical tech program but i dont want to just settle with that.. what are your opinions???

You are making a very smart decision by not wasting time at Baker. Good Luck at HFCC, maybe I will see about getting on the list. If you get on the list in December, when do you expect to be called for the program?

From what I'm hearing on the boards one girl got put on the list Dec 15th 07 and she got her letter for acceptance Aug 08. So I'm hoping I have the same luck, if not then it will more than likely be Winter 10. Either way is fine with me, I'm starting a new job tomorrow and will be saving up all my money until I start the Nursing program, this is so I won't have to work. I'm just very thankful HFCC has a waiting list, otherwise my dream of being a Nurse would slip away.

There are also other classes that are required by HFCC, they're not pre-req's and can be taken during the Nursing program but I'm taking them at MCC to get them out of the way. There are also 2 classes that must be taken at HFCC. Baker's A&P 1&2 only transfers to HFCC as their A&P 1, so I have to take HFCC A&P 2. So in January I plan to go to HFCC to take that class and the other one I need. Then I'll take the summer off and pray for a letter to come so I can start in August.

I have it all planned out, lol.

At what college?

I'm taking Chem 1050, Psyc 2450 and Soc 1010 @ Macomb this Fall.

In January I'm taking A&P 2 and AH 120 which is Pharmacology for Allied Health @ Henry Ford.

I go to HFCC. When are you taking the NET?

I would take it asap. Then you don't have to worry about it. The sessions fill up fast. make sure you study by using the sample net test online through hfcc learning lab. it really helped

I'm not worried about it, I want to have time to study so I don't want to rush it. I think October will be fine, it's 2 months before my class ends @ Macomb.

you can almost bet that if you get in the waitlist now, you'll get

your acceptance letter for fall '09.

Please if this is what you want to do... then be patient and do what you need to do because in the end, it will be well worth it. If I had to do it all over again I would... in a heartbeat! I regret NOTHING. This will be my third year at HFCC and I am in my 2nd semester of the nursing program. Take whatever class you need to and most importantly PASS THAT NET. You could have all your classes done (like someone I know) and unable to pass the NET so it wouldn't matter anyhow. The sooner you complete everything the sooner they can consider you for entry into the winter program or even the fall program.

thanks for the advice.. im going to stick it out im finishing off my last class and going to start studying for the net.. i took the net anout 3 months ago and failed the comp part so i am very nervous about that.

get some of the stuff from the learning center. they will help you. I just used the website they give out and practiced from there and figured out how they wanted the questions answered.
