HFCC - Nsg schedules

Fin-Aid You apply and they send you a letter with amounts which you will either accept or deny and turn it in to the FA office. That is it really.

Schedules- I would say no to the night classes, but not sure. I currently go 4 days a week.

For days, you usually attend class either 9-12 or 10-1p. Monday's used to be the day off, but some classes have their tests on every other Monday or so. Clinical days are twice per week. You could get stuck in a nite or weekend clinical. Day clinicals are usually 7am-2pm. Hope this answers some of your questions.

You go either 2 days a week or 4 days a week and no you do not get a choice in the matter. Hope your boss doesn't mind moving your schedule around. If you go 2 days a week then you are going 7am-8pm. It is a long day. I only had it for a few months...most often I went 4 days.

Here is my schedule:

Monday: 12-1:30 supplemental. It is an optional class, but very worth it to help you with the material.

Tuesday: lecture 9-12

Wednesday: lecture 9-12

Thursday: clinical 6:45 - 2:30

Friday: clinical 6:45-2:30

Saturday & Sunday: I study/try to have a life.

Like oguesswhat said- you don't get a choice. I could have very well gotten clinicals on Tuesday & Wednesday in the afternoons, or even Saturday/Sunday. Often you don't find out until 1-2 weeks before classes start where your clinicals are.

Oh yeah.... 2nd year tests are every other Monday from 12-2 no matter what section you are in.

You seriously need to speak with your employer about the fact that you've started or about to start nursing school because this will require alot of flexibility and understanding on their part. You often times may not have the luxury of choosing your "ideal" school schedule and this can change from semester to semester. I don't know what your work schedule is but if you're full time, you may want to consider cutting back a few hours.

Nursing school is quite demanding on your time alone, Not to mention, scheduling regular study time which will increase evenmoreso around test time and finals. I just completed HFCC Nursing School in August, and believe me, I have seen many a fallen soldier succumb to the devastation of FAILING out of school because they had too much on their plate. Even some who only worked 16-20 hours! That doesn't mean that you can't do it, as there have been few to be successful working full time, depending on their job responsibilities. (Desk work, off hours, major flexibility etc).

You have to have discipline in training your mind that nursing school is a #1 priority now, to stay successful it MUST not fall 2nd or 3rd. Take it from someone who didn't work until 6 mos. before my program ended, and only every other weekend. (Although I do have a husband and 2 young kids). Nursing school came first EVEN before family, friends, work and play (except in emergency or death). As cold, harsh and unbelievable that sounds, its a reality. One that I couldn't even begin to accept until I was drowning nose deep in a pile of life.

:twocents: As everyone posted you don't have a choice in the matter. I've always went to school 4 days a week. If you have to work like many of us do; you could only work on the weekend only if you don't get stuck with weekend clinicals :cry: . I've always went to school T-F since I've been here. Hopefully I'll graduate in May 2010 :loveya:.

As with financial aid; what they offer is what you can accept or deny. May be you can go to "Focus on Women" for some extra help :twocents: Good Luck!!!!!!!!
