HESII Exam

Hey, guys, someone please tell me what the hesii test score numbers mean. I took it today. It was awful.... Don't even know if I've passed. No one seems to be willing to tell you what the numbers mean.

When I took it last semester above 800 was passing, but I have heard the new requirement is 850 or higher.

When I took it the passing was 850, but that was only an indicator of how you might do on the NCLEX. It was not a requirement on passing at that time, now I understand that at some schools, it is now a requirement to graduate.

I just took our school's HESI exit exam today. We had to get an 850 to pass as well. When I took a look at my old score report, it said that 850 was a passing score, but 900 was recommended score. Our school is using the HESI as a graduation requirement. I scored 999 which converted to a score of 92%. HTH. Good luck to you, I'm sure you did fine.

Our school uses HESI as a graduation requirement as well. As I understand it, the questions are weighted and that accounts for the vast difference in scores that people receive. Our score comes up instantly so you know if you passed or not. Does your school not give the score immediately? 850 was passing for us as well.

People tell me that have taken NCLEX that HESI was more difficult. I sure hope that is the case because it was a bear of a test. Good luck with your score.

Hi

Our school requires that the HESI is passed after EACH semester. If you do not pass within 3 tries, you do not continue in the program. You can take a semester of remedial and then take the HESI for the 4th time. Should you not pass that 4th time, it is over. We are required to pass with min of 800 for 1st semester, 850 for 2nd and 3rd and min of 900 to graduate. Also, the Conversion score is a good indicator of how well you did. This means how many difficult questions you answered correctly. So the higher the better. If you get over 900 upon graduation, you should be able to pass state boards. That is the reasoning...so they say.

That helps my feelings... we take the test only once...and it is not an exit exam but an exam grade that it averaged with our GPA. However, they scared up to death. I scored 919...wish it was better but at least it is passing.

We all took the HESI in Dec.

We all scored at least 800

2 people failed the NCLEX after 265 questions but 46 of us passed.

When I took the hesi, it let me know that I would fail the boards in a huge way...Not correct at all. I passed with 75 questions on the first attempt, and there were people in my class who did great on the hesi and took the boards at least twice. I don't think it should be a factor in graduation, that idea was shot down pretty quickly at the college I went to (Thank God) The only thing the hesi did for me was to point out my weak areas (in case by miracle I forgot them) and that helped me study for the boards. I think that 850 was considered "adequate" and 900 was an excellent chance of passing the boards, but it's not always right. Good luck to you, and I'm sure you'll be a great nurse.
