Hey Everyone,
I took my HESI yesterday, V-1, and I must say that I did not find it to be that hard. I was worried because everyone had said how difficult the exam was. My university requires a 900 to get your diploma and I got a 899. When my instructor told me I literally almost passed out. I'm thankful for second chances, just bummed out.
I get version 2 next round. I have to take a bridge course in June and we re-take it in July/or August. If feels like a while from now but I am trying to remember that I would have been studying for NCLEX anyways. It will just better prepare me for the exam.
For anyone who has taken V-2 is it harder? Someone said it was, not sure to believe the hype.
Another thing, I am not even sure how to study. I used the Evolve book last time. Those of you who have taken it do you recommend that I start from the beginning of the book again? I'm just not sure.
Thanks

I broke 900 the first time I took it; but half of my class just took HESI II V-2 and they said it was VERY difficult and the arrangement of questions was totally off.. there was a thread on here that said V2 is harder but V3 is much easier
That's interesting. I have heard that V3 and V4 are a lot harder. I am hoping I get V2 the second time around.
Does anyone have any advice?

Don't stress out. I have seen many students who work themselves up into an anxious frenzy because they didn't pass HESI the first time, to the point that they create a HUGE level of pressure on themselves and freeze up the 2nd time they try to take it.
To try to prevent that, I always make sure to remind students that THIS IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD. Not passing a test does not reflect on you as a person. It is just a stumbling block on your path to becoming a nurse. Stay positive, and keep your end-goal in mind.
I suggest doing plenty of NCLEX review questions (I like the "Reviews & Rationales Comprehensive NCLEX" by Hogan). But it's not enough just to do hundreds of questions, you have to try and understand the material at a deeper level. So think about it as you study or answer questions, and try to find ways to connect it to things you already know.
And stay positive! Good luck!
Thanks for your advice. I gave myself the weekend to cry about it and be upset. I am taking Kaplan right now, so no time to mope. I have that book and I will certainly use it. Thanks again.
Oh, and I also forgot to mention....only ONE POINT!! You are so close to passing already that I am certain you will pass it next time around :) I have seen many students pass who had to increase their scores by over a hundred points to pass, so if they can do it I know you can too!

I am sorry for this minor threadjack, but I've been meaning to ask this since I got here: *** is the HESI? I'm a senior nursing student and I've never even heard of this test.
Yeah, yeah, I could Google it, but face it...that gets kinda boring. I'll take my chances with the HAL 9000s we've got around here.
It is a diagnostic test that some schools use in order to see how well their students will do on the NCLEX. The score you need depends on the school. It goes from 820 to 950. My school needed an 850.
Thanks, Sandra.
