I took the HESI EXIT EXAM today and i got a 813! We need an 870 to actually continue on. So I passed the course but not HESI. I have a chance to take it again in a month but I'm SO afraid of failing. I was wondering if I could get some tips on what to study, how to get rid of MAJOR test anxiety, and how to pass this horrible test.

Thanks in advance!!!

hi i also took the hesi test and recommend studying fundamentals and doin the hesi cd and hesi practest and read all rationales, take your time and if you get stuck on a few questions..snap yourself out of it and remember you know this stuff! As for what i did to prepare besides hesi, i used the new saunders and nclex 4000 as well, but when you take it near the retake focus on hesi and their material, also don't let the scores from the hesi cd and practest get to you, my average on those cds was 60-70s and the questions were alot harder but do them all because i saw about 4-5 questions used from the hesi...you might not think it counts but every question counts! and the questions i saw were also the ones i had gotten wrong on the hesi cd..after all that i scored a 994! so good luck!

It depends....were you doing NCLEX questions leading up to the HESI? did you wing it?

where are your major problems according to your score report?

Personally, I did about 1300 questions over 2 months leading up to HESI, and I read the Kaplan review guide twice at B&N....applied to computer tests...I used saunders mainly to study.

Passed with a 922.....where are your issues?

I was doing ?s about 2 weeks prior....we had finals a week before Hesi...so i was studying for finals too...I don't believe I "winged" it but there were so many contributing factors to why I didn't do as well as I thought I did...in the two weeks I did about 650 questions and typed out rationales..but I used NCLEX 3000. I did really bad on Cardio part of Med/Surg (as I dislike the topic, so that might be why I didn't do too well on it)...Thanks for the advice..

I passed Hesi last week May 14,08. I was so nervous because we had to get a 900 in order to graduate and the test was the day before my birthday. This is what I can tell you helped me out.

1. Know the content

The questions were set up simuilar to the questions on Saunders CD and Davis CD. Once you know the content and rationales after does these you will be good. The hesi book is ok but as long as you have a Saunders you will know you content.

2. Hesi was all about test taking!!!

Once you know the content you have to be able to eliminate distractors. Test taking info is in the beginning of the Saunders review book. You have to know how to pick the GLOBAL response a.k.a. Umbrella response example: a)put up side rails b) sit up c)turn on side d)provide safety mesures. The answer woud be D because D includes doing a,b and c. There was alot of those. Know how to eliminate psychosocial options if they are asking for physiological answer. Know how to eliminate simular options. medspub.com goes through all of these test taking strageties and it really helped me.

3.READ REREAD AND READ question again to find out what they are asking to find in that in the answer.

4. Know your labs.

I remember some questions that all you needed to know was what lab value you should be looking for based on what disease question was addressing and some questions you needed to know what lab value was out of the normal range. Those where pretty easy

5. Alot of questions asked for MOST important or INITIAL action and then they will give you options. If you know the disease or problem occuring go through options and find most important. Use your imagination to picture patient

6. Take your time!! and relax before answering each question

It took me 4 hours. Some students finished in 1 hour and did not pass. Take your time. Hesi is 160 questions and you have up to 8 hours!!

GOOD LUCK!!!

YOU WILL PASS :yeah:

I did these stategies last week now i am an RN BSN
