Hesi Exit exam

Nursing Students HESI

Published

Hi All,

I've always been a weak test taker, high anxiety levels, learning disability, and nursing school has never been easy for me. I'm now a senior, and Just took my entrance hesi exam and did not get the 850 ( I was around the 500's). Now we have the exit Hesi in November and our school is giving us these four options of a review to take before the exit ( which we have to get an 850 on. I wanted to ask you all which one you feel would be most beneficial.

1) National Council State Boards of Nursing ($160, 15 weeks) NCSBN's Review for the NCLEX-RN® Examination - Students - NCSBN Learning Extension

2) Saunders Online ($75 for 1 year or $100 for 2 years) May not want to purchase if you already ownthe book as many questions are the same. HESI/Saunders Online Review for the NCLEX-RN Examination (1 Year) (Access Card) - ISBN: 9781455744756| US Elsevier Health Bookshop

3) Kaplan Exam Prep ($129) Kaplan ExamPrep for Nursing Students | Kaplan Test Prep

4) Point PrepU NCLEX-RN ($110, 1 year): NCLEX-RN 10,000 Powered by PrepU

And also any other tips, question banks that helped with your exit hesi experience please share, because I feel hesi questions are just so different. I don't know what to do I just feel so lost and upset I didn't past the entrance hesi because I studied all summer. Any help would be very appreciated

Hi,

I just took the entrance Hesi 9/19 and I failed. I am a bit lost like you I only have one more chance to take test to get into the school I am trying to get into. I use the Hesi Admission Edition 3 what study guide did you use?. This book was good for Reading, Math and Grammar but, not Vocabulary for me. Out of all the vocabulary words in the book I only seen 10 on the test and was so lost when it came to the other words. They also has some anatomy vocabulary words that I did not study for so I know I lost many points. Since you not pass the entrance exam you have to take it again in order to take the exit Hsi correct?.

hey just took my exit exam yesterday and score >1000 .. here's what helped me the most

and

https://evolve.elsevier.com/cs/product/9780323244954?role=student -- questions get harder as you start to master the topics.

both of these are written by the same company that writes the actual HESI.

Best of luck.

Hi,

Since you not pass the entrance exam you have to take it again in order to take the exit Hsi correct?.

Sadly, that is not the case we only get one shot. We now have to pick one of these review courses to hopefully pass the exit hesi which will be 35% of our grade.

I used the review questions on that book and got 100's then when it came down to the hesi It's as if I could not tell what the questions were asking. I feel As though Hesi questions are worded in a difficult way. The second resource you described that gets harder did you feel as though the questions were similar to the hesi? because I have to pay for one of the resources that my school provided like I said above no choice. So Im scared to pay for something else.. struggling to pay for life as we speak :sorry:

yeah I agree with you --- I wouldn't spend the money for a resource that they wouldn't accept --- I looked at the NCSBN program and it really just didn't do it for me.. and since it's the most $$ for the least amount of time.. that would probably influence a decision if it were mine to make.

I wish you the best of luck.

I agree, do you still have the https://evolve.elsevier.com/cs/produ...4?role=student on your evolve account? I may try to see if I can get it or find someway. I struggle with the wording of the questions during the hesi.

I wish you the best:)

Specializes in Critical care.

I passed my exit HESI the first time with close to 1000. My best advice is to focus on areas you are weakest and pay particular attention to safety, fundamentals and leadership. There is also a HESI review book (it's not very large) that gives you "HESI Hints" which are great because they help you see what the exam is looking for. A lot of people I know loved the website YourBestGrade. I really liked Prioritization, Delegation, & Assignment by La Charity. It's a great book and helps so much. I noticed a big difference after working through it.

When I took my senior seminar class this is what we were told:

PS. The NCLEX RN Mastery App (about $30) is a really great resource. Download it on your phone, so when you are out and about waiting around you are making the most of your time and answering questions (like when stuck in the line at the grocery store). :)
