Im going to be taking the HESI exit exam in May..Can anyone please let me know what to study for or what to use to study with...Has anyone taken the Hesi exit exam before-feedback please:idea:

We have to take hesi exams at the end of each semester...the best advice for you is to buy the evolve NCLEX-RN review book. If you are unable to purchase it..google nclex 3500...a free link will pop up for you...practice NCLEX questions....there is not a specific thing you can study, it is a comprhenisive test, you either know it or you don't.

Good Luck:up:

Thank u for the advice. I do have the Nclex 3500 question and I do have the evolve book. Thank u sooo much, I really appreciate it.:yeah:

My school suggested to not study for the HESI test, it is given for two reasons, to show the school how its doing, how the students are understanding the material taught and this test gives you, the student, a baseline assessment of what you know, so you can study what you really need for when you go for your boards. If it is not figured into your grade I wouldn't study for it.

I have taken it twice. Not so hot, but did better the second time, so it gives me some hope. Our school requires you pass it by the third time, or you will have an 'I' on your transcript, you can still get pinned and walk, but you have to pass it before you can get the school to remove the 'I' and take your NCLEX.

If your situation is similar to mine, DEFINATELY STUDY FOR IT. The questions on the HESI are SO much harder than any NCLEX book or review content I've run across so far. Saunders is ok, but the questions in their book I've found to be pretty easy. I don't consider myself to be dumb by any means, and I'm usually a pretty good test taker.

Just be prepared is all I can tell you. There are a few alternate item formats (List in order of priority, select all that apply) and they are weighted more than the "easier" questions. I think the HESI really makes you know your material, and if you can pass the HESI, you'll almost certainly pass the NCLEX... or so I'm told. It sets the bar pretty high in my opinion, which is never a bad thing, just another obstacle to overcome before we get to take the NCLEX. Good luck to you, and I'll be on my way to my third attempt!
