HESI exam A2 admissions test !

Published

Hi All,

I will take HESI exam A2 admissions test next month, and it is the first time for me. I tried to find some on-line practice problems but I couldn't find them easily. Do you have any information on that?

Thank you,

The best resource is the HESI book itself.

Yes, its 30 some odd dollars. But it does a much better job of outlining the questions, rationales, and types of things to know than ANY online "resource" I found.

Search in allnurses and you will find a few threads with links - but if you're serious about the test and your admissions test will involve nursing material (mine was HESI, but only tested over math, vocab, and english), then the book is really worth it.

I agree. The only thing you should really focus on is the hesi study guide. If your hesi exam includes A&P, you may want to brush up on it with an additional book such as A&P Made Easy.

Specializes in N/A.

I went to testprepreview.com for practice questions and then I just sprang the $22 at Barnes and Nobles (they have bunches of practice books) for more help a week before I took it and the extra practice questions and info helped me

Hi guys, I would like to know if the vocab words are the ones from the study guide?

Let me tale you about HESI A2. I took it last week.

Math is very easy, just as the evolve guide study. Need to pay attention on convertion from fraction/ratio to decimal to persent, also know military time vs normal, change from Roman # to regular, many questions about galon, quart, lb, oz ..... study. Just study all z math questions and how to solve them. If u study just from z book, any one can get above 90%.

Grammer is also exactly from the evolve book, go over all topics & do z practice exam at z end, u should be fine. But for me this was my lowest grade because English is my 2nd language.

Reading comp, I love this kind of question, again straight from z evolve book, study z main idea and all that come with it. I got above 90% even if English is my 2nd L.

Vocabulary, hmmmmm, not all from evolve, u must know medical terminology also you have get more vocab practice test from somewhere. For me since I need to study harder than any body, I got 92%, I was shoked :lol2: so if I can do it, any one can but u got to study from different book.

Ohhhh, about A & P, forget about evolve book, it is not helping at all. You have to take your time and study hard from different A & P book. For me I am glad I check info (post) all the time here and I found out from people who took z test before me suggesting we should study from other book. I got many different study guide and study as hard as my English exams. Thank God and I thank the people posting here:yeah: I made 96% I was very relif because I want to pass HESI A2 on my 1st exam, I don't want to take it again.

I have 2 more pre req left and I hope I will get in the program in September.

So I have to tale u 3 thing for whoever going to take HESI A2 exam.

1. Study

2. Study

3. Study :)

I wish you all good luck!!!!!!!

thank you so much for the advice. it was really kind of you.

i have several questions to ask for you.

1. for the vocabulary section, what kind of word do i have to memorize? the types of questions are synonym, antonym, or definition? could you give me a sample question for the vocaboulary section? i have no idea and now i'm trying to memorize medical dictionary from a to z. it is nightmare to doing that. please help!

2. what do you mean by z book? i have evolve admission assessment exam review 2nd edition.

3. can i go back to previous questions during the test?

4. what type of questions for the grammar section? please give me a sample question.

5. each section has 50 questions evenly? or one of the sections has more questions than others?

thank you sooooo much!!

Hopeful, can you give some examples for the grammar part and for the vocab?

ALSO, if you remember any details that were in the critical reading (how hard were the passages to read, how long it took you to read all the passages, how hard was to find the right answer to the questions). Was your exam timed?

Ava82,

Don't stress about the vocab actually all HESI A2 test is not very hard at all.

Let me try to answer your ?????

1. You have to know all z medical term on z evolve book beccause u don't know which one they ask. I am sure it was many ??? from z book too but don't depend on z evolve book only. Try to study from NET, TEAH or other pratice test on vocab. Quizet.com is great to study. I used it a lot. No synonym or antonym but I don't mislead u because each state or each school can give different HESI A2 exam. Yes many difinition ???? eg. select the meaning of underling word in the sentene??? It is hard for me to tale u exactly what the word was. Don't worry if I can manange to get above 90% u do fine. Just study and memorize the evolve medical term in addition to practice over different voab from different place.

2. Yes z book means the same evolve book, it is a great book for math, reading, grammer and most vocab.

3. No u can't go back to previous ????

4. For grammer??? u just have to read from evolve book everything and do the practice test, pat attention for eg. lie vs. lay all those look alike sound alike word. If u study from z book & English is your 1st language, u will do good.

5. Math, vocab, grammer has each 50??? reading comp, I think 30-34??? A&P 25???

A&P is only 25?? that is why u have fo focuse on that because if u miss more 1?? 4 point off.

I hope this will give u some help, I try to answer u r ?? I don't know if I can give u what u are looking for.

Wish u good luck!!!!!

hurrlybaby,

See the previous post and I post some today too.

Good luck.

Hopeful,

I was asking you if the reading comprehension section was something easy to read for you ( English as a second language) and to answer the questions that were there.

example: did you find main idea in the first line of the paragraph or it was more as an implied main idea. The details were clear or it took you a while to search for it. The purpose was clear. How about the inferences you needed were easy to get out of the passages?

Were the questions somehow confusing or were clear..... Please let me know.

Thanks.
