Hesi A2 Lehman College

Nursing Students HESI

Published

Hey guys, I'm applying for CUNY Lehman's nursing program, Fall 2016, and I am really nervous. I have a 3.73 gpa, however I have recently have taken the HESI A2. I got an overall grade of 86, but I got a 68 on the anatomy section. My question is if Lehman looks at the overall grade or the grades of each section. Some people tell me it is the overall grade and others tell me it is the section. Please if anyone knows for sure it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!

Hi all,

currently in the process of applying for fall 2018. you all mentioned science gpa, for those that applied what was your overall? do they really just want to see a good science gpa or are they looking at both?

Lehman only cares about your science GPA and hesi scores. They don't care about your overall GPA.

hey, how were you able to retake the exam within the same year? On the Lehman website it said that you can only sit this exam once in a calendar year. Any input will be helpful. Thank you !

I retook the exam through another school and gave Lehman my results. I had to retake the exam because I got lower than an 800 on the critical exam section. If I didn't retake the hesi then I wouldn't have gotton into the program.

@Evesdrop

Do you mind if I ask which school you retook it ? and how you did the process. I score low on the A&P section and I want to try and get a better grade.

Sure. I retook the exam through Houston Bastist University via the distance learning option. If you google HBU hesi, you should be able to find information how to sign up for the hesi using their code. After I retook the exam I just handed in my results in person to the Lehman nursing department. I'm not sure what you scored on the A&P section but Lehman is only looking for a 75 or greater in each section.

I scored a 72 on the A&P part :( Also, did you have to let the Lehman nursing department know about retaking it through another school or were you allowed automatically to retake it ? Btw, thank you for replying with helpful information.

I'm experiencing problems registering for the exam using their code. It won't let me select the type of exam. It just says "none available"

Hi Pachu, when retaking it at HBU, did you purchase the exam directly through them ? I am having troubles when I use their school code on the Evolve website. It keeps saying that there's no exams available. If there's any help, I took the test on Feb 1 2018.

Pachu hasn't been on since 2016

Hey happynurse2016,

As long as a school has the 4 sections you need, take their exam. You only get graded on the sections you start on the HESI. Meaning even though they might have addition sections it doesn't matter. I signed up to retake the exam using HBU's department code (it's a school in Texas I believe). The only difficulty is finding a time slot for the exam before March 15th. I was told by a staff member in Lehman's nursing department that you need to retake the HESI exam before March 15th so it can be included with your application.

I don't remember the process in depth but I wrote this back in 2016. I think you should just read posts earlier in the thread for a better understanding of the hesi retake process. It's pretty simple and straight forward.

To answer your question I didn't ask anyone or tell anyone I was going to retake the exam, I just did after the department head told me I would have to in order to get into the program. I would call HBU and ask them if they have a different code you could use.

hey stevie, were you able to retake your test at HBU ? or did you do it at Lehman again ?
