HELP!!!! Failed RN exit 4 times I need HELP!

Nursing Students HESI

Published

So I feel like a complete idiot. I went to Jersey College in Jacksonville LPN-RN Bridge program passed all my nursing courses for an RN degree and couldn't pass my exit exams. I studied everything possible from HESI to Saunders but with each failing test I did worse and lost all confidence. I can't get my degree or sit for NCLEX. What are my options now? The school says I can remediate but I passed those courses already and I've already had to find another job since my completing school was contingent on me working. With a new job and remediation not being flexible what can I do? I'm discouraged, exhausted, and feel like an idiot but becoming an RN is all I ever wanted. Someone please tell me there is hope.....

If possible, I think you should take a little time to yourself. De-stress and do some introspection. Try to figure out what went wrong. Then I think you need to do your remediation and just get it over with. I know it sucks, but it doesn't seem like you have much choice right now.

I took some time off the problem is after all the studying I do well on the practice tests and I've done well in school 4.0 but when taking the HESI I don't know where I go wrong. I've read over my study plan and every time I've taken the test I do worse.

yeah that hesi is no joke, it ruins people, I've been thru it and it is the worst when you have to repeat and it holds you back on everything. basically you just have to reflect on your weakness, start understanding content more, test taking strategies and read rationales. use saunders or elsevier adaptive quizzing is good for it. In the end no matter how hard you study for that exam it will never be enough because it is so random.

I've taken the Kaplan test taking strategies did well on all the practice exams, I've continued to study and practice with Saunders but it seems the HESI is nothing I can anticipate. I've gotten advice on obtaining an attorney but for me that's money wasted I just want helpful hints or a tutor that can analyze my results and help me pass so I can move onto the next step.

Seems you may have Test Anxiety??? Just guessing, don't give up get yourself a Tutor & Destress prior to your Test! You can do it! I'm praying for you. You CAN do it!!!! Can't wait to hear that you've Passed. Good Luck.

Thank you so much I'm trying really hard. I've had no luck finding a tutor in my area and yes I do have extreme test anxiety. I just want to pass this test and get my life back.

This is kind of vague. What portions did you fail?

I can relate to your frustration, I am taking my Exit HESI for the 3rd time on Friday, I am hoping the 3rd time is the charm. I read rationales, I have done NCLEX questions, I downloaded and printed a study guide from this site, and I have a HESI review book. There is no particular area that I struggle with it is completely random. :p

Hey!!! I understand your situation completely. I also had to take my hesi exit twice. i believe that I might be able to help you with some pointers and study tools. email me [email protected].

how many chances do you get to take the exit exam?

I found my stride when I realized that I did worse when doing practice exams in "study mode". I would be able to see the answer right after I hit submit to that question. I took the Saunders (Purple? book) resource online. They have actual sections with "Maslows", "ABC", "Alike", "Priority", and "Video" questions. These questions are all similar to the HESI. Then I moved to "HESI/Saunders Online Review for the NCLEX-RN". I feel like this will prepare you the most, IMHO.

And don't take long on every question. You should be able to answer a question in LESS than a minute. I feel that people (including me) change answers the longer you stay on a question.
