Hey,
I am taking the HESI A2 test in a week in a half. I have to take all of the sections.I have the Evolve Reach study guide and have studied it thoroughly. I've read a lot of the threads on this site and just became a member tonight. I'm reallly nervous because from the general concensus it seems that the study guide I've been using is sufficient, in regards to math and reading, but lacks in the science and vocauluary sections. I took the NET previously and passed with no problem. I've received A's in all of my pre-nursing courses but had a delay in starting my nursing program. i now have to take the HESI A2 because it has been too long since I took the NET. It's been over 5 years since I've taken chemisrty, A+P, and biology. My mind is really rusty! I've read that many people have used other study guides, such as the Kaplan version, and those seemed to be mor helpful for the science. A lot of people suggested to review from A+P books. I kept all my science book and notes from my classes but that is WAY to much information to cover for a general review. My A+P book is HUGE and I don't want to study unnecessary information, considering my time limit. From other posts i learned West Coast University has a good review. Has anyone tried that? Is it free to download? If anyone has any suggestions, advice, websites, or anything that can help I would be extemely grateful!!!! THANKS

I cannot speak for the science sections since I did not have to take them, but I found the Evolve study guide to be sufficient for the vocab section. I was also nervous about this section after reading posts on this site, but in my experience this section of the test was not very difficult. I made flash cards for a few of the words in the study guide I was not familiar with, focused on studying those, and then read through the entire vocab section in the study guide a few times. I had a few more scientific terms on my test that were not in the vocab section of the study guide, but studying for the science sections should help you with any scientific terms you may encounter. I studied a few other vocab sections from other nursing exam study guides, but I honestly did not find them to be very helpful in regards to the HESI.
If you are looking for a good A&P resource, you may want to check out the A&P book from the Straight A's series. I am using this book to brush up on A&P before I start nursing school, and I really like the way it is set up. It highlights important information in the side margins of the book, and there are NCLEX type questions at the end of every chapter. I would consider it to be a mid-size book and is about a third of the size of my A&P book.
