Hello everyone,

I am new to the forum. I will be taking the HESI A2 Test at El Centro College. Has anyone taken this test at El Centro? If so, what is the best way to study for it? What study guides do you recommend? There are 2 that I have heard about: The Evolve Reach Admission Assessment Guide and the HESI A2 Test Secrets. Any advice would be most welcome and appreciated.

Thank you,

Janet

There is so much written on this site about the HESI - including test tips - see this link:

(I got it by searching the site for "HESI")

Good luck!

Thanks so much for the reference. Have a great rest of the week:)

Thank you for the references. I did check a lot of the posts and they were extremely helpful. Because every college is different I was trying to get some feedback from students who have taken the HESI at El Centro College. Before you take the exam they recommend that you have taken A&P I and College Algebra. I was trying to get a feel for what will be on the test and what books would be most helpful to use to study for the HESI at El Centro. I wish they only required the Basic Math, Grammar, and Reading. They require all 5 portions.

If anyone at El Centro has taken the HESI, your advice, tips, information would be super helpful and much appreciated:)

I took the HESI at El Centro and did really well even though I havent had anp2 yet. The day I went I was kinda freaked out by all these people in the hall with study guides and text books. I didnt do any studying for it and was fine. The anatomy and physiology part was the hardest for me. It was all actually anatomy questions no physiology questions though. At the end of the test you can print out your score sheet and the review of each section you took. The review will tell you what questions number you missed and what topic was. PRINT OUT EVERYTHING YOU CAN! most people dont realize they can. There is alot of good info, including testing tips you can print. I recommend taking the test once for practice, just to get a feel for it. Here are some of the topics that were on the test: MATH SECTION: fraction to ratio, meter to km, milliliters to liters, multiply fractions, ounces to gallons, ounces to pints, percentages, ratio percentages, roman numerals. CHEM: amino acids carboxyl amino, buffer, description of matter, dilution calculation, hydrochloric acid, solution calculation, viscosity. As far as the reading and vocab parts go, the test reminded me of the TAAS Test. They just give you a short story and you answer questions from it. Good luck on your test! I hope this helped!:D

Thank you so much for the information and tips. Wow, I just finished taking A & P 1 and don't remember anything about chemistry, amino acids, HCL calculations. Okay, have to go study that portion of it. Hopefully, I will do well on every portion of the test. Have a great rest of the week:)
