How is the program so far? Im starting Jan 2020

Hey!
I am starting the accelerated BSN program in May. Have you heard anything about the school/program?
I haven't read the best reviews online so I am a little nervous!
Honest opinion, It is what you make it. If your determined to succeed no matter what, then you will.. but this school goes through a lot of changes.. changes in curriculum, changes in staff, changes in this or changes in that.. and then your just stuck in the middle and have to choose to adapt and keep pushing forward. Some teachers are better than others. I would advise you to get a strong network of students that you can depend on and you guys work together to succeed.. that’s how I’m making it.. well that and my diligence.. I graduate in August this year.. DO NOT LISTEN to negativity from students or staff.. It’s your journey.. you make it what it needs to be
thanks for getting back to me and congratulations on almost graduating! any tips on how to study? ill definitely do my best to adapt to the changes because I do want to succeed and I don't want to drop out!
keep an ORGANIZED binder of all your notes.. it helps when it comes time to review things throughout the program.. I have a fundamentals section, a maternity section, and Med surg section (with diseases by body system) with the drug sheet right behind the disease
For nursing 1 and 2 you have the same teacher: she will say “focus on this, your test will be on this and will not have these thingS”.. my tip, those things are normally on the test too.. learn your HEAD to TOE assessment now, you will have to do it in nurse 1 lab on the dummy for your instructor ... be on your p’s and q’s about that class And get a good grasp on fundamentals because it follows you through the program..
nurse 3 is Med surg, this professor is straight forward. He doesn’t try to trick you and really try to get you to understand the material.. he doesn’t just read off the PowerPoint.. for medsurg in this class.. focus on how your patient will present(what does the disease process look like On this patient ) s/s.. what medications will I give? What do I need to teach the patient about the medications? What diet should be encouraged? What should I be doing as the nurse (implementation)? use his PowerPoint as a guide, add notes to the slides from what he lectures on and align those things with the textbook.. you will do great...
nurse 4 is another Med surg course and the professor above will be a part of the class As adjunct.. follow the same steps above BUT remember they test you on all prior content as well on exams ..
nurse 5 is maternity for the first 5 weeks and then last 3 weeks is leadership.. the leadership final is what got a few students because it was a lot of delegation questions.. if you think you might be weak in this area, start practicing and getting familiar with it early.. set yourself up for success..
also you have dosage calculations for every core class.. in nurse 1 you have to get an 80%.. nurse 2-6 it’s 90% and practicum is 100%.. if you think you might be weak in this area start practicing this now through dosagehelp.com or rnpedia.com.. again, set yourself up for success.
thanks so much for all of that! it definitely helped!
I saw some reviews where people said Herzing messed up their schedules and they had to wait a whole semester to take classes again...does that happen? other people said their financial offices were a mess and they would lose paperwork. Have you run into any of those issues or know anyone that has? Also, do you know how most people pay for it? Do they take out loans?
Thanks! Sorry for the 1 million questions!
Herzing university Orlando is a small campus with limited teachers. They don’t have every class every term. Or they are filled to capacity with new students or students that passed the previous term going into the next term. So people that fail a course may have to wait or sit a term out in order to continue their program sometimes.
Yes, financial aid has misplaced paperwork. It’s important to keep copies of everything you send in.. also when you start doing your volunteer hours toward graduation, keep track of those and keep the paper that shows you did it...
people pay for the school with student loans, out of pocket each term, and the VA..
also herzing has some kind deferred program but you have to basically show them all your finances (All income) On paper and they determine if your eligible

I am just now seeing this, this thread was going to my spam folder in my inbox. I guess my question to you, is what do you think so far, since you started.

Hey everyone! I am applying to the BSN program and I am having a great experience with my advisor, but I have seen a lot of bad/mixed reviews. Does anyone know how well job placement is after graduation and if this school has a bad reputation? Also, I have looked on the CCNE website and the program is accredited. Thanks!! ?
