Hep B Requirement Golden West College

Published

I had a question as I'm concerned and waiting for golden west to get back to my email (I'll try walking in tomorrow to ask them)

I'm having some concerns about all the deadline requirements ...most specifically hep b

I have insurance through kaiser and when I went earlier this year (beginning of June) and brought up to the doctor i was waiting on an email regarding all the requirements needed but knew hep b had to be done by dec 19th. He told me to wait and we could do everything at once...I waited on their original email and the email then got pushed back for everyone until September ....I immediately got started on everything

(I have my drug screening complete, background check complete, will do my CPR this upcoming Monday...and have started my doctors appts for all the medical eval paperwork)

My issue is this, I went on Tuesday for my appt (the soonest I could get in) then went back today for my 1st tb test result reading. I'm scheduled to return next Tuesday to do the 2nd tb test...get a booster for mmr (since my immunity for rubella was at 8.89...and should be at a 10 or higher)...and also my hep b.

Now here lies my concern about hep b...the doctors office swears to me that as long as I've got the first two vaccinations completed by the scheduled deadline i'll be fine...I worry that since I'll still be awaiting my 3rd and final hep b vaccine by the deadline...that this could pose an issue...

I already wrote to the school and like I said will walk in tomorrow to inquire on campus...but I can't help but freak out a bit that this could cause some issue for me.

Anyone have any insight or has dealt with this issue and GWC before? I'd appreciate some words of positivity that I'll still be good to go and not screwed over by this...

Thanks!

I did just notice on "certified profile" the online system they use for us to upload all our documents...that they state under hep b that we need one of the 3 uploaded ....1) documentation of the 3 vaccination series, 2) evidence of immunity through titer 3) declination waiver

So ...with that said I'm hoping that worst case scenario is while I'm awaiting the 3rd vaccine...I can possibly sign the vaccination waiver to cover my ass.

I know I may be stressing over nothing...but the fact that I've been asking my primary physician technically since June and he's kept putting it off to get the vaccination process going/completed ...is stressing me out...at least until I can get a definitive response from the school to ease my mind.

I am in the fall 2014 first semester at gwc. You only need to have the first two done. You can finish the third when you start school. Hep b takes longer to finish so they accommodate for that.

Thank you. I went in today and they were able to reaffirm that I'm clear as long as I stay on top of the due date of my 3rd vaccine

You should have gotten an email with a link to the forms required page. Here is an excerpt "Your acceptance letter stated all students admitted to Spring 2015 are required to have their Hepatitis B vaccination series completed by December 19, 2014; however, ALL of the OTHER requirements listed here (1-6) must be done by the deadline which is December 1, 2014. Ok so maybe it was just fall where they allowed us to complete it in september when school had already started. I don't know why they'd do that, though.

Ahh that is great!! Forget my last response haha. :)
