Hello! Any I.E Nurses out there?

I am considering applying at Hemet Valley Medical Center in Hemet, CA.

They can promise me a spot in a nursing program and they'll pay for it! Thats almost worth a miserable job.

I have heard bad things about the hospital, so that's why I'm wondering if there's any employees or former employees out there who can tell me about the hospital. I don't mind being short-staffed. It's like that everywhere.

I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

I just started working at Hemet Valley Med Ctr. a couple of weeks ago. I'm on the 3rd floor - Med/Surg. Since I haven't worked in the hospital for 5 years they're treating me like a new grad and giving me 6 weeks orientation. The nurses have all been really nice to me. The manager recently went out on medical leave so the manager from the 4th floor is now covering the 3rd floor also. I haven't seen her around very much but she's great from what I hear. The problems I'm having are: 1) getting up at 5 am, 2) the hour drive to/from the hospital to my home in Temecula, 3) being stuck at one place for 12 1/2 hours when I used to have so much freedom in my previous jobs, 4) feeling like an idiot because I don't remember anything from nursing school.

Many of the nurses on my floor are LVN's and are attending school to get their RN's. My preceptor just got her RN and is EXCELLENT! She knows soooo much! I heard one of the CNA's say the hospital also offered a program to become an LVN but she wasn't doing through them because she didn't want to commit to working for them another 2 years afterwards.

I really want to be an OR nurse but there are no training programs near me and every hospital I've talked to wants at least one year Med/Surg before they'd even consider me for an OR position. I'm working tomorrow and am really dreading getting up and going there but need to do it to eventually make it to the OR. Let me know what you decide!
