Hi everyone,
We are currently learning about oxygen delivery devices and I have a question. Our teacher gave us a powerpoint stating a Venturi mask can be ordered by the doctor at an FiO2 of 15.24%. Is this correct? I know I probably should not be questioning the teacher but in the book I have, it states the FiO2 range for a Venturi mask is 24-50%. I do not know how this is a correct order from the doctor. Can someone please explain?
Thanks,
Shannon

This doesnt make since to me when the air we breathe has 21% oxygen. Probably a typo or maybe adding it to the intitial 21%.

it has to be a typo. room air is 21%
That's what I thought. Room air is 21% so how could you put a mask on someone with less than room air. I'll ask him when I go to class tomorrow. Thanks for answering.

You can bet he meant to type "24%," and there are setting all the way up to 100%.
