Help! What are requirements for British RN to work in USA?

I am a registered adult nurse in the UK. I would like to transfer to the UK and work. However, as well as passing the NCLEX exam, I believe I may have to have clinical nursing experience in mental health, paediatrics etc as well. I have only ever worked (5 years) in adult nursing, so are my chances basically zilch?

Honesty please, but bear in mind my feelings x

Your assessment is correct, to become a nurse in the USA you need clinical and theory in Pedi, OB, and Psych nursing. Your questions will be better answered in the Immigration section.

Meeting state requirement is starting point and unless your transcripts show clinical and theory hours in Paeds, Mental Health, Obstetrics and Adult you will not meet requirements. Then you have to be aware of retrogression and the several years wait for immigrant visa and that is once you have met a employer willing to wait the 6 plus years and files for a immigrant visa for you. Currently there are no courses in the UK enabling you to make up hours both clinical and theory hours in subjects that need make up
