Help undecided about Taking RN Supervisor position for LTC

Published

HI, I am a RN with 2 yrs of med surg. I am so ready to leave my hospital job due to always short staff and I practically due everything for my patients. I am a one man show at times. I am I terested with taking care of Geriatric pts so ltc is of interest. I applied for an RN position at a ltc and was offered the rn supervisor position. I like the fact that's within ltc but I'm leary because I'm aware of some of the things that may arise due to my friend whose an LPN at another ltc and tells me her bad days. I'm so ready to leave my job and try something new but I don't want to jump from the frying pan and into the fire. I'm going back and forth with the decision my fist decision was no but this could also be experience.

LTCs are not all the same. Check various web sites to see what kind of reviews this particular facility gets. Nurse supervisor can be a very interesting job under the right circumstances. Don't be surprised if you're the ONLY RN in the building.

Thanks, will do
