help with topic for paper

hi everyone

I am working on a reseach paper entitled "legal liability and nosocomial infections."

I'm having a problem finding info on this topic. Should i choose another topic? The paper must be 4-5 pages in length and must be on one of these topics 1)legal liability what constitutes it 2) Establish legal policies or procedures and Legal aspects of patient safety and pt rights. i think someone has already chosen topic #3. We have to support our research data with a case study. I found a case study on nosocomial infection---pressures sores and i was going to talk about Nosocomial MRSA. I know there are other types but I think he wants more us to focus on the liability part of our topics since this is a nursing law class.

Suggest you go to the website for NSO (the company that provides malpractice insurance for nurses). They have a library of lawsuits. Go through these and you should be able to find some examples for your paper. Good luck.

I would first difine what is legal liability in general health care terms. Then if you are going to apply it to someting specific such as Nosocomial infection such as MRSA then I would define the Standard of Care for prevention of these infections.

CDC and CID will have web sites with useful information on Standards of Care.

For a specific case study You might look at data bases such as CINAL your schoolj should have access to this and other data bases. Your school librarian shoudl be albe to help you to find apropriate data bases to locate your case.

Ask your librarian for help. There should be a wealth of information on this topic.

When patients get nosocomial infections, there are added expenses, time in the hospital, pain and suffering.

You've had some good suggestions above and you could also talk to a couple of attorneys who do medical malpractice.
