Help with TEAS Test

Published

Hello Everyone

I am in the process of studying for the TEAS Test. I purchased the study guide a week ago.

What I would like to know is how I should study for the test? are there any helpful hints that I could go by? How much should I study i.e daily weekly? I try to study at least 3 to 4 hours a day is this enough? I registered to take the exam March 14, 2012 ,but I do not think that this is going to give me enough time and I am thinking about changing the date to take the exam to the begining of April. How far in advance should I schedule to take test? I really want to score high on the test. I am from the state of CT and the school that I am trying to get into does not have a scoring point. The way that the school accepts or rejects prospective students is that they compare students scores to each other. I meet all the other requirements for the nursing program which consists of Intermediate Algebra c or better English Composition C + or better Human Biology B+ or better and an Interview. If I pass the Teas test I will begin the nursing program in August 2012. The application deadline to the school is April 30, 2012. There is going to be a information session on Monday february 27,2012 which I am going to attend. Which I will bring with me my resume, application and college transcripts. So everything is hanging on the TEAS test. So I would very much appreciate any and all responces. I thank you for your time and have a nice day.

Hi! I had the luck of being able to study almost everyday for a month before I took the TEAS V. I wish I would've done better on some sections of the test. Overall got an 85% which isn't bad but is far from spectacular... The greatest difficulties I had with the test was the science section: it's tough depending on your background. I only had taken the required pre-reqs and found myself a little flustered with this section. Of course you wont be taking the same test as I did but I can't tell you exactly what to study :thankya: (love this emoticon) but I'll tell you from personal experience the test covered some things that were NOT in the official TEAS study guide. Very frustrating for someone who studied that book religiously. Perhaps checking out some other study manuals for free at a book store would be a good option to supplement the manual you've already got. :) if you have question feel free to send me a personal message! best of luck

I just tried to send you a personal message, but it wouldn't allow me. :) I am also studying for the TEAS like it's a bible. I am basically trying to memorize the whole book. :) I was hoping you could let me know what else I need to study. Thank you so much.

If you study the ATI book you will do just fine!! I didnt study mine thoroughly- just skimmed through it a few times and did the practice test questions and I scored a 78.7 overall. I found the science to be most difficult. Review Mitosis, Meosis, balancing equations, RNA, DNA, Classifications & Taxonomy, protons, neutrons, electrons, atomic #, atomic mass. Bio and chemistry questions will more than likely be the main questions in the science portion, in addition to scientific reasoning. The reading portion of the TEAS can be tricky... I usually do well on reading tests, but I got an 81 on the reading section. I will just tell you to read very carefully, some of the questions require you to follow directons or a series of steps and you will have to determine the outcome. Also they may have questions where they will give you a scenerio or list of prices and you will have to determine the best package or deal. Some of the questions are just too easy like reading a food label. Math was easiest for me, I scored a 92% on that section- it was very basic-- multiply (large numbers) (& deceimals), division (large numbers) (decimals), percents to decimals and vis versa. Measurments, and maybe a couple of word problems... Language usage section, was easy (i thought!)- know adjective, adverbs, pronouns etc... couple of spelling questions and also synonyms. Know when to use commas, hyphens, semicolons, & use quotation marks. I thought it was kinda elementry. Sorry to write a book, but just want to give everyone a heads up, I was in the same position last week stressing and trying to figure out what to study!! Good Luck

Please guys, i need help with the reading portion on the teas, especially the information comprehension part. This is going to be my second time taking the teas and i always do really bad on the information section.
