Help!

Hello all! I have been an RN for 4 years. I graduated in 2021 with my ADN and took a job in outpatient surgery right after passing my NCLEX while completing my BSN. I worked as a Pre-op/PACU nurse (low acuity setting)  for about 1.5 years. I made the decision after to go into school nursing for the simple reason that my son was starting kindergarten and I needed the work/life balance. I am really wanting to get out of this role and into a more traditional nursing role but having a hard time. I assume this is bc I never completed a residency program and just lack bedside experience.  It's super frustrating and I feel like I am doomed to be a school nurse FOREVER! I have applied to several RN fellowships and am having no luck there either. I'd appreciate any advice on how I may can transition out of this role.  TIA :)

Apply everywhere!  There are a lot of hospitals that will take new grads you just have to stay persistent.  Do you still have relationships with any of your school friends?  Ask them to put in a word for you.  If all else fails, boots on the ground.  Find a hospital you like, drop off your resume in person or ask to speak to someone in HR.

Good Luck!
