Hello. I recently called off on Monday December 23rd. Two days before the holiday due to being very I'll. I am a night shift 6p to 6a RN supervisor who has worked at my place of employment for about 4+ years. The whole time I have been there we were to work the day before the holiday and the next scheduled day after the holiday. I worked Christmas Eve and then the next scheduled day I also worked. The payroll girl is now saying I do not get holiday pay because I called off 12/23 and it falls to 12/24 (which now they are saying is the holiday.) So does this mean if a nurse works 12/25 into 12/26 that that is not considered a holiday and can call off and still receive holiday pay? I never call off and have been a loyal employee to this company for many years. I am just irritated and needed to vent. Thank you for listening. Any advice?
This happened to me over thanksgiving.
Its usually the shift before and after your scheduled holiday. So, if christmas eve was your scheduled holiday, you wouldn't get holiday pay for that shift. If Christmas was your holiday and you worked christmas eve as well as the next scheduled shift following christmas you would.
Its a bogus policy and I had no idea it was so common.

Sounds like too many problems to put up with for much longer. Being shorted on earned money (aside from this holiday misunderstanding) is completely unacceptable.
You are welcome for the info. Good luck improving your situation in 2020. ??
