OK folks, I have just about 72 hours to memorize muscles.

NO other unit has given me this many problems

YES i admit it- I have May-itis but i have been trying all weekend

and i just cant seem to keep these tricky things in my head

Any and All ideas are welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have found that if I study right before I go to bed, I retain more information.

I've also heard that the anatomy coloring books are helpful, but haven't used them myself.

Good luck!

Yes, I too heard the coloring book was useful, but I didn't use it either. I felt the part on my body which I was naming as much as could be done and retained most of them this way. I also used my children to help me and it worked!

Try, writing them and saying them a couple at a time and picture were they should be on the body or copy a picture of the body and write on it. I wished I could help more.

Let us know how you do.

Okay...I dont mean to brag but I feel like I have excellent study skills. Anyway I am very willing to share what works for me and hope it works for you. When I am studying things like anatomy I will do the traditional looking at the picture over and over again. I will close my eyes and try to visualize it then I will wait about five minutes (study some physiology during this time) and look back at the picture covering up the names with a peice of paper. I will quiz myself on the ones I know and figure out which ones are giving me trouble. I do this over and over until I know them all! The key is to quiz yourself to evaluate what you have really learned. The repetition helps to bring the knowledge into long term memory. I also agree about studying before you go to sleep, I believe your subconscious works through the info while you sleep, but quiz yourself on it again in the morning!! GOOD LUCK!!

For me, the key was understanding how they are named. Muscles are named pretty logically actually- according to origin/insertion (Sternocleidomastoid), location(abdominus, femoris, medialis), function (pronator,adductor),shape/orientation (rectus, trapezius, oblique) or size (vastus, maximus). So rather than having to rotely memorize unfamilar terms, knowing the meanings of those terms gave me little clues to use in learning the material. I also found the coloring book helpful. Good luck!
