Help! Super stressed

I really really am interested in being a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer but I also want to be an RN help can I do both?! Super stressed

Specializes in RETIRED Cath Lab/Cardiology/Radiology.

You could get both an RN degree (after passing an RN program and then passing NCLEX) and a certification in DRMS (by enrolling in a requisite program and passing it as well, plus the certification exam).

This would take more of your time, obviously.

But you would then have to find a position for each: work as an RN and then a second job working as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.

Two different areas.

They really don't overlap.

I suggest you decide on one or the other and pursue that one.

Good luck!

I suggest you pick one or the other. Pursuing both would a tough task but if you can get it done. That's good. However, like dianah says it's two completely different areas. If you like caring for others, being that person that aids in a patient getting better, have a passion for patient care then choose RN. If you rather not provide much patient care and have the task for doing diagnostic tests and sonograms then pick Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.
