Hi fellow nurses! im torn if il go to NZ as a student visa for 1 year & allowed to work 20hrs/week and will took the LEVEL 8 program which I can bring my husband (work visa- can work fulltime 40hrs/week of more) and daughter (visit visa) or i would try very hard the IELTS and apply for CAP. which is best? i know people would suggest CAP.. but im scared coz they said its hard to pass sraight 7.0 IELTS here in Philippines. 😞 and some says it would take 2-3 mos to look for a job after the CAP. And for the student visa, can we survive there? anyone can help me look for a cheaper accommodation.. btw the school is in Rotoura,NZ (waiariki institute of tech) .. and if you have lots of infos bout my concern pls do help me and email me at [email protected]

Hi xyz,
Are you saying you are torn between doing the 6-8 week CAP course and a diploma that takes about a year?
Vince
yes..
I would personally suggest doing your CAP only and not do a diploma.
The diploma will cost you a significant amount of time, energy, and money and will not lead to you obtaining registration as a nurse in New Zealand. Frankly, it is a waste of time. I personally know several people who went through this path and have regretted doing it.
If you can get the IELTS scores needed for NCNZ registration then I suggest enrolling in a CAP course as soon as you can.
