I am almost a senior in college, and unfortunately I discovered my passion for nursing in the fall semester of my Junior year when most people would already be starting the nursing school curriculum for a BSN. I am a Health Promotions major with almost all pre-requisites done, with the exception of Microbiology, and I only have 3 semester left until I graduate. I know that I want to do nursing, but I highly considering shadowing all summer and finishing my Bachelors degree, and applying for the Clinical Nurse Leader program for after graduation. I was already planning on getting my Master's and then specializing after working for a few years. I do not mind if I start off as a Staff Nurse, as that is what I truly have a passion for, and then moving up to leadership roles (I consider myself a leader who gets along well with others). I am just very unfamiliar with the successes of CNL's. My school does not offer a BSN program so i'd have to transfer my senior year . My question is- can anyone give me advice on what I should do? Would it be better to finish my Health Promotions degree, work all summer in a hospital setting, and the try for a CNL program in the Fall after I graduate? Or is it better to just go ahead and transfer and get a BSN? Any advice is GREATLY appreciated.
