Help! Scared to call HR to take back acceptance of job offer

Published

Hi! I need help! I've been agonizing for weeks now. I got 2 job offers both in intensive care unit. One per diem and one fulltime. I already accepted the fulltime position, did the medical test and finalized HR papers. The orientation starts on feb 2. I just got a job offer today for the per diem position at a hospital a lot closer to my house. I've been waiting for that per diem position and I thought it will never be offered to me, hence I accepted the fulltime position. Their orientation falls on the same date. The per diem position is very convenient for me and that is what I really want. But how do I go about telling the other hospital about my decision? I really dread doing the phone call. I'm sure HR will be very mad at me!

They were already interving the next day I called them up to cancel my application. I know because my husband works there. I called them almost 2 weeks before orientation date. I guess that was enough time to interview, do background check and employment checkup for a new applicant and still be included in the orientation I was scheduled to attend. All's well then.

I'm glad you did the right thing and withdrew leaving them enough time to fill the position before the desired start date. Somebody out there desparate for a job is now going to get an offer very soon. Good for you!

Good luck with the new job you DID decide to take.

Yes I am glad too, for the new employee and HR and the hospital. :)

Congrats though for getting the job you wanted.
