Help with resume

Published

I am a staff nurse and have an interview for a nursing informatics position. In what sort of things should I put on my resume that would stand out. Any suggestions

Specializes in Informatics, Education, and Oncology.

I'd suggest you use the NI position description as your guide. What are the job responsibilities, what are the expectations?

Additionally make sure your resume includes/mentions if you have been involved as a committee member, builder, "Super-user", and or a trainer; on which projects and the extent of your involvement. Example: "Super user involved in systems training and testing of Meditech Order Entry implementation.", "Builder of text boxes for the Care Plan application", "Assisted in developing policy and procedures for the Nursing documentation system", "Involved in system stress tesing and scenario building" "Manned the Command Center during Go Live"

Highlight/note anything you did that was over and above the assigned responsibilities. Example: Designed Access data base for Oncology department.

Include any related course work. Example: completed MS Project class at the Community College, enrolled in graduate degree program majoring in IT, CS or Healthcare Informatics or NI; Micro Soft Certification obtained.

Include skills that can be carried over from clinical practice like: Experienced in change management, process redesign, excellent communication skills, etc

Take a look at previous posts on the NI Forum related to entry level NI salary ranges.

Also take a look at "Suggested NI/IT/IS Interview Questions " located at the top of the Nursing Informatics forum. Remember you are also interviewing them!

Good Luck!
