Help what pre reqs do I need before I apply to Excelsior?

Published

I am currently an LPN wanting to get my RN through EC. (I've finally made up my mind to go for it.) I have already taken General Psychology. Do I also need Developmental Psych before I apply? What other classes and/or tests must I complete before I can start with the nursing program?

You do not need any prerequisites before applying. Most people transfer in community college courses for credit. If you start from scratch you might take a little bit longer, and will be subject (as everyone is) to the administrative fee that is charged each year to remain enrolled. Also keep in mind that you have seven years of enrollment time with EC. You might or might not want to use any of that enrollment time taking anything you could have done before enrolling. Go to http://www.excelsior.edu and read up on the info for prospective students and get a look around the site. You can answer many of your own questions on the site. Good luck with your decision.

sorry there are not prereq these are GENERAL EDUCATION COMPONENT

Can all of these be taken before I enroll? If not which ones can?

i dont know about that.but i know most of them you can clear through CLEP. except english,a&p1,2,microbiology

All of the general ed classes can be taken before enrollment. Most people, as I stated before, take these classes at their local colleges. Other options are the CLEP and DANTES tests. For testing out, you need to check with Excelsior College to see which tests they accept. This info is available on their website and you can call or email the school to discuss this with an advisor.
