I am in OB right now and I need any and all help I can get with taking my exams! I do fine in my clinical setting, but when it comes to the theory exams, I am not doing so well. Please let me know if there are any websites that may have questions similar to those that could possibly be on a test!!!!! Suggestions welcome.

Get the "OB made easy" books or "what every ob nurse should know." Use these as a guide to the basic questions. Practice only OB questions out of NCLEX books. Read your textbook, look at all bold, highlighted items, chapter summary points. it helped me to tape teacher's lectures and relisten, as they will hit certain points. Think safety, what puts mom/baby at risk? Hemorrage issues, prenatal care, knowing the language of OB, fetal position, passage, power stuff. There really is not tricks to this, just know the basics. Good luck, hang in there, i know can be difficult.

Get hold of a Saunders or other NCLEX RN study book. I found those enormously helpful in preparing for my tests in ALL areas of nursing, and used them to review when I was in school. I managed all A's on the tests, due to this pratice. I would review my chapters in my text books and then do the NCLEX book. And I am convinced I did so well on my NCLEX due to this, also....reviewing, if you will, for more than 2 years anyhow.

Go to the OB part of this study guide and do the review questions. I bet that will help A LOT. Remember, they are not trying to make you an OB expert in nursing school.......the stuff you need to know is in your text book and lecture, as well as in review of an NCLEX prep book.

Good luck.

Thank you for your help! I am just at wits end and can't seem to get it together. I will try using these suggestions. Only 6 weeks left and I know I can do it, it's just the fact of really truly knowing the material and what extra materials could help me.
