help please

Hello, I am a new member here. I am working on a project for school that's mainly graded on creativity. I am choosing to do it on endocarditis. My idea is to put red toothpaste on my fingernails (to show the symptom of hemmorhaging under the fingernails) and to do a chain of infection with a silver chain belt. Is there a way that I can make this more creative? The best project is worth five points on the next test. The Lord knows I need it. Please help. Thank you for your time.

This is a disease that kills lots of IV drug abusers. (fast,too)

How about tying it in to a lecture about the need to provide clean works on the street- or not to.

Instead of red toothpaste on the nails, I would suggest painting black streaks with a fine line magic marker on your nails and fingertips to show the splinter hemorrhages of acute bacterial endocarditis (see pic: http://162.129.70.33/images/scan_013.jpg ). Also, with a fine red tip marker, make small dots on your palms and soles of your feet for the "Janeway lesions" (see pic: http://www-clinpharm.medschl.cam.ac.uk/images/janeway_sbe.jpg ).

I would also do something with your teeth--most, if not all of the clients I have seen with endocarditis had serious dental problems--very poor dental hygiene, caries, rotten teeth. May want to black out a few of your front teeth to get the point across.

May want to make a colorful poster about heart valves and "vegetation" that is attracted to and grows there. (Pic of vegetation on the mitral valve: http://www.pathology.vcu.edu/education/ dental2/case.13c.html )

Prevention: antibiotic prophylaxis before ANYTHING that is potentially invasive (such as dental work, etc.).

May want to include a pictorial description of antibiotics with an infusaport, as the patient will require MONTHS of parenteral antibiotic therapy.

Once the infection is finally cleared up, the patient will probably require open heart surgery for heart valve replacement surgery . Might include some info about this also.

All of your help is greatly appreciated. I am going to check out those sites to print some PICS to show in my demonstration. I am definitely going to do the teeth and the palm idea. I will mention that endocarditis kills many IV drug abusers. I will keep you guys informed on whether I won or not. Where can I find "bubba" teeth?? What is bubba teeth? I was previously thinking about using black eyeliner to demonstrate the hemorrhage but I love the marker idea.

I have found them at convenience stores, and saw some at wal-mart I think. They are fake teeth that are all nasty and buck toothed, and look rotten.
