I went to a 2 year nursing school right after high school. I have an associate degree in nursing (ADN). I'll be going back soon to get my BSN. There are many universities that allow you to get your BSN or even go straight to your MSN from you ADN. The hospital I'm at right now is part of a university system that does that. It's an awesome way to do things.

It's true, any one who passes the NCLEX is an RN. Those who go to a three year program are offically ADN-RN; those who go to a four year are offically BSN-RN. The difference in my area is $0.50 an hour. If you want to be a nurse manager, educator, practitioner those require a four year program or masters degree. Most of the nurses at my hospital who chose bedside nursing are ADN...cheaper degree same NCLEX. The difference is no extra classes like literature, social studies, speech classes. The nursing classes are the same, except the four year degree has two management classes. (at least in my area)
