Help with Pharmacology

Need some assistance in Pharmacology. It seems that when my son completed the Saunders Review (Suzanne's plan) that this is an area that truly shows a weakness. He did not pass one Medication chapter.

What is the best way to strengthen this before he takes his NCLEX for the second time?

He took a pharm course in 03 but says that he really feels weak in this area.

How did he prepare the first time? Was he just memorizing the drugs?

He needs to understand why one would be used and why it would not be used. Is he having problems with the drugs themselves, or the action of the individual drugs?

If you can be more specific, then I can provide a more useful answer for you.

Suzanne4,

Here is the breakdown of the medication chapters in Saunders 3rd Ed. that he has completed and scored less than 75 on. He has not gone back and read these chapters as of yet. He plans to complete the rest of the exams and then review the chapters that he did not score greater than 75 on.

Chapter 50 - Integumentary Medications - Missed Practice questions 10-13, 15 & 19

Chapter 52 - Antineoplastic Medications - Missed Practice questions 1,3,8,10-17, 20

Chapter 54 - Endocrine Medications - Missed Practice questions 3,5,6,7,9,13-16, 19

Chapter 56 - Gastrointestinal Medications - Missed Practice questions 4,5,9,10, 12-15, 17, 20, 23 & 24.

He is now completing Chapter 59.

Hoep this helps.
