Help!! Newly lincensed and cannot get an interview

Published

Hi everyone,

I recently graduated from an ADN program in Maryland... I do not have abackground in health care and this is my first degree... I've filled out over 50applications and have gotten the same response" you will not be movingforward in the interview process".

I asked friends and family to look at my resume but haven't gotten any helpful advicebecause they are not in the health care field or they just haven't responded atall. I'm so disheartened; I quit my job so I could finish school. I've wantedto be a nurse for as long as I can remember. I just don't know what I'm doingwrong or how to sell myself in such a competitive market. Below is the resume I'vesubmitted and I am hoping someone can please tell me how to fix it so I can at least get aninterview. Thank you so much for your honesty and feedback.

I used to be a nursing home administrators and hired many nurses. I always have preference to the nurses that showed up in person to hand in an application or drop off a resume if the applications were online. Those that were friendly and carried themselves professionally always got interviews before those who only applied online. Also, can you get any volunteer experience? It might help to get into the hospital setting and get to know the nurses. They could help vouch for you to get an interview.
