i'm a recent grad and very new to the site :typing. i am in the westchester county area and i'm really not sure of which hospital or unit i should start working on ( a lil confused don't ya think? ;-)) . i am in the process of looking for jobs now and if there's one thing i know, it's that i detest med/surg and everyone is telling me that's where i should start (although i love the or and er) . also i wanted to know if anyone had an idea of hospitals that were "sympathetic" to new grads because i haven't heard anything yet from places i have applied to. any ideas on hospitals and floors would be greatly appreciated!
I think that you should follow your heart and go to the OR or the ER. In these hard times you should apply to any and all hospitals, including manhattan, brooklyn, and Queens. You may have to start working in any dept and transfer when a position becomes available.
At this point, I would apply to wherever you want to work, but also keep an open mind to taking something else if the specialty you want is not available. You can always transfer later.
